What types of special events may be eligible for coverage?
Special event insurance may be available for community events, celebrations, fundraisers, ceremonies, exhibitions, and other short-term events held across Canada, subject to underwriting review.
How far in advance should brokers request a special event quote?
Submitting information as early as possible allows sufficient time for underwriting review and helps ensure any required documentation is available before the event date.
What information is typically required for a special event application?
Requirements may vary depending on the event; however, organizers are often asked to provide event details, attendance projections, activity descriptions, venue information, security plans, and insurance history.
Can event venues require proof of insurance?
Many venues, municipalities, and facility owners require proof of insurance before an event can take place. Event organizers may also be required to provide certificates of insurance and additional insured documentation.
Why do event organizers purchase special event insurance?
Special events often involve exposures that may not be adequately addressed under other insurance arrangements. Specialized event insurance can help organizers meet contractual requirements and manage risks associated with hosting public events.
